Life can seem like an exhausting or impossible challenge at times, but you do not have to face this struggle alone. Sometimes, we are baffled by the sense of pain and sometimes, we find ourselves dealing with relationship strain, trauma, identity/faith crises, transitions, health issues, grief, addiction, etc. We can lose our sense of stability, joy, and peace. Our internal battles occasionally leave us feeling overwhelmed and negatively impacted in our ability to function or have happy, healthy connections with others.
Counseling can help you find a sense of hope and passion in your life, learn to connect and communicate in more effective ways, nurture an attitude of self-compassion, process difficult feelings, and practice positive thoughts/behaviors. I believe in working through past trauma and grief, which can cause tendencies toward depression. I encourage clients to set goals with action plans, while addressing unnecessary anxiety with effective coping skills. Instead of wondering, “What is wrong with me?”, you can shift toward a brighter outlook and a more vibrant way of life.
In this fast-paced world, many highly functional people need a more coach-like approach for improving self-esteem, building personal skills, exploring passions, and reaching better outcomes with friendships, dating, marriage, business, school, or overall image. So often, our friends and family members are well-meaning, but they have an agenda for what is “best” for us. While it is often important to heed the advice of those who care, there are times we simply need an unbiased party for important or sensitive conversations. I strive to offer positive, realistic, nonjudgmental feedback, along with encouragement, reassurance, validation, and inspiration.
I believe in you and your inherent ability to show me the most effective way to help you heal, grow and thrive. I look forward to working with you and helping you achieve your vision, whatever that may be. I use attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, parts work, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and visualization in the counseling process.
